Shortly after the birth of a new baby a RFID identification tag is placed around the leg of the infant. The mother has a tag that is applied to her wrist. These RFID tags are similar to the tags used in hospitals presently. It is easy to mistake a new-born child’s identity. The mother and baby tags are matched. This insures that the RFID systems can pair the mother and baby. The parents can thus at all times be assured that the baby that cannot speak for him/herself is actually their child. The RFID system will immediately notify staff or parents in the case of abduction, mismatch and swapping events.
The RFID identification tags also monitor the whereabouts of the baby. If the child is removed from the area where she or he is supposed to be, an alarm will activate and immediate corrective action can be taken.
