In recent years, against the background of rising national awareness of environmental protection, large retail companies such as Lawson have accelerated the introduction of “weigh-and-sale”, seized the changes in consumer demand, and popularized it in one fell swoop.
Teraoka Seiko, which manufactures cash registers and other equipment, plans to start selling the self-service mass vending rack system “All-in-One Rack” in Japan in late May 2021. The system makes full use of gravity sensors and RFID tag technology in supermarkets. Deploy self-service vending counters in convenience stores.
In recent years, against the background of rising national awareness of environmental protection, large retail companies such as Lawson have accelerated the introduction of “weigh-and-sale”, seized the changes in consumer demand, and popularized it in one fell swoop.
The scales and distributors are matched with machines required for weighing and sales. The green label on the container is the RFID label
“All-in-One Rack” consists of a scale, a dispenser for storing and distributing goods, and a 500-yen coin-sized gravity sensor module called “e.Sense”. e.Sense built-in 2.4GHz communication module, installed on the cover and handle of the commodity distributor.
When the gravity sensor detects the consumer’s action of taking out the product from the dispenser, it will notify the host of the product information through wireless communication technology, and then the basic information of the product will be displayed on the touch screen and the consumer will be required to confirm it. After confirmation, the machine will print out a barcode sticker that records product information such as product name, weight, price, etc. Consumers can settle at the cashier with the product and the barcode sticker.
At present, when consumers use self-service weighing for weighing and selling in the market, consumers often need to select the goods to be purchased through the touch panel. Therefore, it is easy for consumers to choose the wrong goods and lead to the problem of checkout errors. “The automatic input of product names reduces such errors and makes it easier to realize the popularization of self-service mass merchandising. From loading products into containers to printing bar code stickers, only the customer’s operation is required, so the store does not need to be staffed. “Teraoka Seiko Media Solutions Division Director Naohiro Watanabe explained.
The integrated gravity sensor “e.s sense” of the wireless communication module detects the action of picking up the goods and informs the scale, saving consumers the trouble of choosing the name of the product
“All-in-One Rack” also supports high-frequency RFID tags. If consumers want to use their own containers, they must affix an RFID tag sticker with the weight of the container in advance. In this way, the machine can automatically read the data of the RFID tag when weighing and measuring, and automatically subtract the weight of the container.
In addition, “All-in-One Rack” is also equipped with an electronic price tag. When temporarily using the touch screen to register or modify product information, the electronic price tag will also switch, reducing the trouble of hand-made price tags and preventing price calculation errors due to differences between the price tag and registration information.
