Firefighters and other emergency personnel protective clothing designer and manufacturer Bristol Uniforms announced that RFID tags will be used in their uniforms. Labels will be used for the future of fashion design, and can automatically track the Bristol uniforms, according to Harland Simon. Harland Simon provide tags support for the company.
Bristol Uniforms purchased 4,000 passive ultra high frequency (UHF) tags and sewn labels into each new garment products’ pockets. The RFID tags using waterproof neoprene material, which is part of Harland Simon Vero solutions product line, using Alien technology Higgs3 chips, can withstand up to 150 degrees (302 degrees Fahrenheit) temperatures, which means it can run in fighting conditions, as well as professional cleaning process, according to the company.
Bristol Uniforms is also building a uniform treatments to provide clothing life care services to fire fighters and emergency personnel uniforms’ manufacturer. The project also includes MC3190-Z UHF handheld reader series of Zebra Technologies, used to collect the uniforms’ inspection and maintenance records at the fire station and service centre.
RFID tags replace the barcode labels used by uniform, barcode need to be manually scanned to collect data, it is a time consuming process, according to Harland Simon says, because barcodes require one-to-one scan. The company notes that as a manual procedure, in manual scan process also is prone to human error.
“RFID labels in line with our garment application, need to meet our uniform management services to track the project on the cleaning, inspection and maintenance cycle, to return to the border station in the process of automatic information tracking.” Service operations director of Bristol Uniforms Edward Shepherd said.
Automatic scanning and RFID reader will significantly reduce our employees’ time in the process of collecting clothing information. Application of RFID technology for multiple items can be scanned at the same time, without the need to find a barcode. This means employees can scan a complete collection of articles don’t even need separate.
Eventually, Harland Simon said that tracking information will be available online, through each stage costume records management service processes, provides a full range of clothing tracking information for Bristol Uniform’s users.
