In some cases where a depo has hundreds, or even thousands of vehicles it sometimes becomes very hard to keep track of the location of vehicles. RFID solutions have a system where each car can be fitted with a RFID tag. When the vehicle is parked, or stored the RFID equipment picks up the location of the vehicle and this location is recorded on the central database. It then becomes very easy to check on the system where the vehicle is parked.
This can be extremely handy in situations where we are dealing with new cars that do not have unique identification features like number plates yet. Because each RFID tag has its own unique number the vehicle can be identified through this RFID tag. The radio frequency identification tag can store information like VIN number, Chassis number and all information relating to the vehicle. As the RFID tag can hold 100 bits of information a fair amount of information can be stored on the chip.
